These are considered severe or lifelong disabilities but do not prevent someone from doing freelance work (digital, creative, or remote-based).
Orthopedic Disabilities
- Amputees (single or double limb loss)
- Severe scoliosis or spine injury (wheelchair-bound)
- Polio survivors with major limb impairment
Neurological / Mobility Disorders
- Cerebral Palsy (moderate to severe, but with functional hand/voice/assistive device use)
- Muscular Dystrophy (progressive but capable of computer use)
- Spinal Cord Injury (paraplegic/quadriplegic with assistive tech)
Visual Disabilities (Severe / Total)
- Total blindness (can use screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, or VoiceOver)
- Severe low vision that cannot be corrected by eyeglasses
Hearing Disabilities (Severe / Total)
- Profound deafness (cannot be corrected by hearing aids, relies on sign language or captioning tools)
Chronic Illnesses / Conditions
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – fluctuating mobility but capable of computer-based work
- Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis (affecting mobility, but still able to use assistive tools)
Psychosocial Disabilities (Severe)
- Severe Bipolar Disorder (stable with treatment, able to handle freelance flexibility)
- Severe PTSD (if manageable in flexible, remote work environment)
- Schizophrenia (stable/controlled with medication, able to function in work-at-home setting)
❌ Disqualified List
These do not qualify as "extreme" PWD cases since they can usually be corrected, compensated, or don't cause major functional limitation.
Vision Issues (correctable)
- Blurred vision that can be fixed with eyeglasses or contact lenses
- Mild color blindness
Hearing Issues (minor)
- Mild hearing loss correctable with hearing aids
- Tinnitus (ringing in the ears but still functional)
Socialization-related issues
- Mild anxiety or shyness
- Introversion / discomfort in crowds
Other mild physical issues
- Mild scoliosis or posture problems not causing major mobility impairment
- Mild arthritis or joint pain still manageable with treatment
