How do I create and activate an account?
Select Get Started, choose either a Freelancer or Business account, provide accurate information, verify your email, complete your profile, and submit the required identity or business documents. You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract.
Can one account be used as both a freelancer and a client?
Freelancer and Business accounts have different dashboards, permissions, and verification requirements. Register using the account type that matches how you intend to use GigGenius.
What is KYC and why is it required?
KYC is the identity-verification process used to confirm that users are genuine. Freelancers submit valid identification, while Clients may be required to submit business-registration documents. GigGenius also uses facial and manual verification to reduce fraudulent accounts.
How long does verification take?
Most submissions are reviewed within 24–48 hours. Processing may take longer when documents are unclear, expired, incomplete, or do not match the account information.
Why was my verification rejected?
Common reasons include unreadable or expired documents, cropped images, poor lighting, mismatched information, unsupported files, or duplicate account information. Review the notice, correct the issue, and resubmit.
Is GigGenius free to join?
Yes. Account creation, profile creation, job posting, job applications, and freelancer invitations are free. GigGenius does not sell connects, bids, application credits, profile boosts, or paid rankings.
How do freelancer application credits work?
Freelancers receive 15 free application credits. One credit is used for each eligible proposal. Credits are not purchased and cannot be used to boost a proposal or improve profile ranking.
When is a freelancer application credit returned?
A credit may be returned when an application is rejected or accepted, an eligible application is withdrawn, a position is filled, or the job expires after 30 days. Refresh the dashboard after the related status has finished processing.
Why was my application credit not returned?
The application or job may still be active, its status may not have finished processing, or the action may not qualify for restoration. If the balance remains incorrect, contact Support with the job title and application details.
How do Business posting credits work?
Businesses receive three free posting credits and may generally maintain up to three active job posts. A credit is used when an eligible job is published and is replenished according to applicant processing and job-lifecycle rules.
How long does a job post remain active?
A published job normally remains active for up to 30 days unless it is filled, closed, unpublished, or archived earlier. A listing may close automatically after the requested number of freelancers has been hired.
Why can’t I publish another job?
You may have used all three posting credits, reached the three-active-job limit, left an older listing active, omitted required information, or have incomplete Business verification.
How do I find and apply for gigs?
Sign in with a Freelancer account, open Find Gigs, review the complete scope, skills, budget, contract type, schedule, and freelancer requirement, then select Submit Proposal. Only apply when your skills and availability match the listing.
Why can’t I submit a proposal?
Your verification may be incomplete, the job may be closed or expired, you may have already applied, you may have no available credit, or you may be signed in as a Business. Entry-Level freelancers must also complete three qualifying courses.
Why must Entry-Level freelancers complete courses?
Entry-Level freelancers must complete three published Free courses marked as qualifying requirements before submitting proposals. This prepares new freelancers for professional communication, applications, and client expectations.
What is the difference between Free and Premium courses?
Free courses can be enrolled in without purchasing access. Premium courses will require payment when the course-payment gateway becomes available. Only Free courses marked as qualifying count toward the Entry-Level requirement.
How is course completion recorded?
The player records watched progress and may require skipped sections to be watched again. Complete the required material and achieve the displayed passing score. The standard quiz passing score is 80% unless otherwise stated.
How do I track my applications?
Open Applications from the Freelancer dashboard. Statuses may include submitted, under review, shortlisted, accepted, rejected, withdrawn, or closed.
How does a Business review applicants and hire freelancers?
Open the job from Gig Posts and select Applicants. Review each proposal and profile, then use the available Connect or Hire action. A Business may hire multiple freelancers when the job was configured for multiple positions.
What contract types are supported?
GigGenius supports Hourly, One-Time, and Milestone contracts. Hourly work uses tracked time and may include a weekly limit. Milestone projects divide payment and deliverables into stages, while One-Time contracts use a fixed project amount.
Why can’t I start an hourly timer?
The contract may be inactive, paused, ended, or unfunded; the weekly limit may have been reached; another timer may already be running; or your session may have expired. Manual time may require Client approval.
How does payment protection work?
Applicable Hourly and Milestone work must be funded through the GigGenius Payment System before work begins. Funds are released according to the contract and approval process. Payments made outside GigGenius are not protected.
What fees and commissions apply?
GigGenius generally deducts a 10% platform commission from successful Freelancer payouts. Verified eligible PWD freelancers may qualify for a reduced 5% rate. Paid mentor courses are subject to a 5% platform commission. Payment-processor fees may also apply.
How are disputes handled?
Either party may submit a support request. GigGenius may review contracts, messages, submitted work, time logs, and payment records. Related funds may be held during the investigation, and failure to provide requested evidence may affect the outcome.
Can a Client request a refund?
Refunds are reviewed case by case, including cancellation before work begins, verified non-delivery, rule violations, or breach of agreed terms. Approved work and off-platform payments are generally not eligible for a refund.
Can users communicate or transact outside GigGenius?
Official project details, deadlines, contracts, and payments must remain recorded on GigGenius. Circumventing platform fees or moving a GigGenius transaction outside the platform may lead to warnings, suspension, or permanent account termination.
How do reviews and testimonials work?
After an eligible contract ends, both parties receive a seven-day double-blind review period. Reviews remain hidden until both parties submit or the period ends. Submitted reviews are locked and may appear under Testimonials.
How does the business partnership work?
Apply through the business partnership page, then share your unique referral link. Affiliates earn recurring commissions from qualifying activity: 0.5% from referred Freelancer payouts and 1% from referred Client project payments.
When are affiliate commissions paid?
Affiliate earnings begin when a qualifying referred Client funds a project or a qualifying referred Freelancer receives a payout. Successful referral commissions are paid monthly, subject to program eligibility and account standing.
What information does GigGenius collect?
GigGenius may collect registration details, identity or business-verification documents, profile content, payment-related information, communications, device and usage information, and other information users submit while using the platform.
How is personal information used and disclosed?
Information may be used to operate accounts, verify identity, process transactions, prevent fraud, provide support, improve services, communicate updates, and comply with legal obligations. Information may be shared with authorized providers or authorities when required.
What privacy rights do users have?
Subject to applicable law, users may request access, correction, or deletion of eligible personal information and may manage certain communication choices. Some records may be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or transaction requirements.
Is GigGenius intended for children?
No. Users must be at least 18 years old. The platform is not intended for children, and suspected underage accounts should be reported to Support.
Who owns content uploaded by users?
Users retain ownership of their submitted content and are responsible for having permission to upload it. By submitting content, users grant GigGenius the rights necessary to operate, display, distribute, and support that content through the platform.
What activities are prohibited?
Prohibited conduct includes unlawful activity, impersonation, fake or duplicate accounts, fraudulent listings, fake reviews, harassment, spam, unauthorized data collection, security interference, intellectual-property violations, dishonest project claims, and fee circumvention.
How do I protect my account?
Use a strong unique password, never share login codes or credentials, keep official activity on the platform, avoid suspicious links, sign out on shared devices, and report unauthorized access immediately.
Why is a page, image, or upload not working?
Refresh the page, use Ctrl + Shift + R, confirm the file type and size, check your connection, sign in again, and try an updated browser or Incognito window. When reporting the issue, include the page URL, error, date and time, browser, and a screenshot—but never your password or token.
What are GigGenius credits?
GigGenius uses separate free credit systems for platform access. Freelancers use application credits to submit proposals, while Businesses use posting credits to publish jobs. Credits cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged for cash.
Can freelancers purchase additional credits or visibility?
No. GigGenius does not sell application credits, connects, proposal boosts, profile boosts, priority placement, or paid ranking. Opportunities are based on suitability, skills, performance, and merit.
When is a Business posting credit used and replenished?
A posting credit is used when an eligible job is published. Drafts and unpublished jobs do not normally consume a posting credit. Credits are replenished according to applicant processing and job-lifecycle rules after eligible listings are completed, closed, filled, or archived.
What happens when all positions in a job are filled?
The listing may close automatically after the Business hires the required number of freelancers. Eligible application and posting credits are then processed according to the final job and application statuses.
Who can participate in the business partnership?
Eligible Freelancers, Businesses, creators, community partners, and other approved users may participate. An affiliate account must remain verified, active, and compliant with GigGenius rules.
How are affiliate referrals recorded?
The affiliate shares a unique referral link or code. A new eligible user must register through that referral so the account and qualifying future activity can be attributed to the affiliate.
How are affiliate commissions calculated?
An affiliate earns 0.5% from qualifying payouts received by referred Freelancers and 1% from qualifying project payments made by referred Clients. For example, a qualifying $1,000 Freelancer payout produces $5, while $1,000 in qualifying Client project payments produces $10.
Are affiliate commissions recurring?
Yes. Eligible commissions may continue from qualifying activity while the referred account remains active and the affiliate remains in good standing.
Can an existing user be reassigned to an affiliate?
Referral tracking generally applies when a new user registers through the affiliate link or code. Existing accounts cannot normally be reassigned after registration.
Are self-referrals or duplicate accounts allowed?
No. Self-referrals, fabricated users, duplicate accounts, and manipulated transactions are prohibited. Related earnings may be cancelled and the responsible account may be restricted.
What information appears on the Business Partner Dashboard?
The dashboard may show the affiliate code, total and active referrals, Freelancer and Client referral earnings, recent commissions, available balance, referral status, and recent referral activity.
Why is an affiliate commission pending or cancelled?
A commission may remain pending while registration, verification, payment, or qualifying activity is being processed. It may be cancelled or adjusted if a payment is reversed, refunded, disputed, charged back, fraudulent, or otherwise ineligible.
How should affiliates promote GigGenius?
Affiliates may use websites, blogs, social media, professional networks, events, communities, and consent-based email campaigns. They must accurately represent GigGenius, avoid false earnings promises, disclose the affiliate relationship when required, and never collect passwords or sensitive documents from referrals.
When are approved Freelancer earnings released?
After Client approval, eligible and undisputed earnings are included in the weekly GigGenius payment release every Friday at 11:00 PM Philippine Time. Payments are processed through a secure third-party payment gateway.
When can a Freelancer request a withdrawal?
After released earnings appear in Available Balance, the Freelancer may submit a withdrawal request at any time. The current minimum withdrawal is $10. Funds that are held, under review, disputed, pending, or otherwise unavailable cannot be withdrawn.
What happens if a Client cancels after work begins?
Cancellation after legitimate work begins does not automatically guarantee a full refund. Completed work may qualify for full or partial Freelancer payment. The parties may agree to a settlement, or GigGenius may review the evidence when they cannot agree.
What happens to completed milestones when a contract is cancelled?
Milestones already completed, approved, and paid generally remain final. Funded work still under review may be held for settlement or dispute, while future unfunded milestones can be cancelled without payment or refund.
What evidence may be reviewed during a dispute?
GigGenius may review contracts, project instructions, messages, files, submitted deliverables, revisions, milestones, time records, screenshots, task notes, payment records, and other relevant proof from both parties.
Who qualifies for the reduced 5% PWD commission?
The reduced rate applies only to Freelancers whose major qualifying disability and supporting documentation have been reviewed and approved by GigGenius. Minor, correctable, temporary, and short-term medical conditions—including ordinary eyesight issues that can be corrected with glasses—do not qualify.
Where can I read the complete legal policies?
The Help Center provides user-friendly guidance, but the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and User Agreement remain the authoritative documents. Their links are available in the footer.
